Join a leading Pilbara port maintenance team as a Mechanical Maintainer in a residential role based in Dampier. Working a 5/5/4 roster with a mix of day and night shifts, you will be responsible for maintaining critical fixed plant equipment that supports safe and efficient port operations.

This role is ideal for experienced Mechanical Fitters or Mechanical Maintainers who enjoy hands-on maintenance, fault finding and reliability-focused work in a heavy industrial environment. You'll be part of a collaborative team committed to safety, operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and working within a collaborative maintenance team, you will be responsible for:

  • Completing preventative, corrective, breakdown and planned maintenance across a range of fixed plant assets to ensure safe and reliable operations.
  • Conducting mechanical fault finding, diagnostics and troubleshooting to identify equipment issues and minimise downtime.
  • Maintaining, repairing and inspecting conveyors, balanced machines, car dumpers, stackers, reclaimers, ship loaders, motors, gearboxes, pulleys and associated mechanical equipment.
  • Performing component changeouts, including motors, gearboxes, pulleys, bearings and bucketwheel assemblies.
  • Conducting routine inspections of fixed plant assets and identifying defects, wear patterns and potential reliability concerns.
  • Executing precision maintenance activities including laser alignment, condition monitoring and equipment adjustments.
  • Completing equipment isolations and ensuring all work is performed in accordance with site safety and permit requirements.
  • Working closely with operations and maintenance personnel to coordinate maintenance activities and optimise equipment availability.
  • Utilising SAP to record maintenance tasks, update work orders, capture equipment history and ensure compliance with maintenance standards.
  • Assisting with shutdown maintenance activities, major repairs and project-related work as required.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing safety, reliability and equipment performance while reducing maintenance costs.
  • Maintaining a strong safety culture by adhering to company policies, procedures and risk management practices at all times.
  • Providing high-quality maintenance inspections, reports and recommendations to support asset integrity and long-term reliability.
  • Supporting root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurring equipment failures.
  • Trade qualified Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Technician, Fabricator or equivalent.
  • Previous experience maintaining fixed plant equipment within mining, port, processing or heavy industrial environments.
  • Experience working on car dumpers, stackers, reclaimers and ship loaders is highly regarded.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with motor and gearbox changeouts.
  • Experience conducting pulley and bucketwheel changeouts.
  • Competent in laser alignment techniques.
  • Dogging and rigging experience.
  • Ability to perform detailed maintenance inspections and identify equipment defects.
  • Current Working at Heights and Confined Space tickets.
  • Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
  • Ability to work a rotating roster consisting of both day and night shifts.
  • Current Australian Manual C Class Driver's Licence (HR licence desirable).
