About the Position:
The Fleet Manager role is responsible for the overall efficient operation, maintenance and administration of VM Logistic Pty Ltd’s vehicle fleet. This position ensures vehicles remain roadworthy, compliant and cost-effective while coordinating transport schedules, drivers and logistics activities to meet client delivery requirements and support the company’s day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organise the purchase, leasing, registration, servicing, repair and replacement of transport vehicles, equipment and fuel
- Monitor vehicle maintenance schedules, arrange inspections and ensure compliance with roadworthiness, safety and regulatory standards
- Liaise with clients regarding transportation requirements, vehicle options, pricing and contractual obligations, and resolve enquiries and complaints
- Receive transport orders and bookings, prepare delivery schedules, allocate vehicles and drivers, and coordinate timely deliveries
- Plan and implement efficient transportation routes to minimise fuel consumption and meet agreed timeframes
- Ensure goods are stored, handled and transported under appropriate conditions to maintain quality and safety standards
- Coordinate collection, dispatch, loading and unloading of freight while maintaining accurate delivery records and tracking
- Manage fleet documentation including registrations, insurance, maintenance records, fuel usage, driver records and compliance files
- Prepare operational, performance, cost and budgeting reports to support management decisions
- Supervise drivers and transport staff, allocate work, monitor performance and ensure adherence to company policies and service standards
- Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle utilisation and maintenance costs, and implement strategies to improve efficiency and reduce expenses
- Ensure compliance with WHS/OHS legislation, transport regulations, fatigue management rules and company safety policies
- Investigate transport incidents, breakdowns and complaints, and implement corrective actions
- Work with suppliers, mechanics, contractors and internal teams to support smooth fleet and logistics operations
Requirements:
- Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience
- Strong organisational, planning and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced logistics environment
- Sound knowledge of fleet maintenance, compliance, WHS/OHS requirements and transport regulations
- Excellent communication, liaison and interpersonal skills for working with clients, drivers, suppliers and internal staff
- Ability to prepare clear operational reports, monitor costs and implement efficiency improvements
- Demonstrated capacity to supervise staff, allocate work and maintain high service and safety standards
