Head of Finance

Hays is partnering with a highly successful privately owned consumer products and distribution business.

Established for more than 60 years, the organisation has built a strong reputation within the Australian retail market through its ability to combine data driven decision making, operational excellence and longstanding retailer partnerships. Generating approximately $30m in annual revenue, the business sources, imports and distributes products nationally, supported by teams across Australia and Asia.

Reporting directly to the General Manager and Executive President, this role will form part of the senior leadership team and play a critical role in driving financial performance, commercial decision making and business growth. As Head of Finance, you will take ownership of the finance function while acting as a trusted commercial adviser to the executive team. You will lead financial reporting, planning, cashflow management and governance while supporting key operational and strategic initiatives.
Key responsibilities include:

• Leading monthly management reporting, board reporting and statutory financial reporting
• Managing budgeting, forecasting and long term financial planning processes
• Driving commercial analysis across product profitability, pricing, margin performance and customer channels
• Managing cashflow, working capital and funding requirements
• Overseeing inventory, debtors and creditors to optimise business performance
• Managing banking relationships, treasury activities and external finance stakeholders
• Leading tax, audit and statutory compliance obligations
• Driving continuous improvement across systems, controls and reporting processes
• Providing commercial support on supplier negotiations, capital investment and growth initiatives
• Leading and developing a finance team located across Australia and Asia
• Presenting financial results and insights to executives, shareholders and external stakeholders

About You

• CA or CPA qualification
• Proven experience in a senior finance leadership position
• Background within wholesale, consumer products, retail, FMCG or distribution environments
• Strong understanding of inventory accounting, landed costs and margin analysis
• Experience managing working capital, cashflow and banking facilities
• Demonstrated success leading and developing finance teams
• Strong commercial acumen with the ability to influence business decisions
• Advanced financial modelling and analytical capability
• A hands on approach combined with strategic leadership skills
