About the Position

We are excited to welcome an Engagement and Referral Practitioner to our Mackay Family and Child Connect (FaCC) team. In this important role, you'll connect with families at critical moments, helping them access the support they need to create safer, stronger futures for their children. Through compassionate engagement, skilled assessment and collaborative planning, you'll play a key role in supporting child wellbeing and family resilience.

  • Level 4 SCHCADS Award.
  • Salary range: $92,287 - $99,295 + Superannuation.
  • Full-time, Government funded contract opportunity until 31 March 2027 with possible extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build meaningful connections with families by engaging vulnerable children and caregivers and supporting them to access the right services at the right time.
  • Make a positive impact on child safety through assessment, safety planning and early intervention strategies that support family wellbeing.
  • Guide families towards practical supports by conducting needs assessments and coordinating referrals to community and specialist services.
  • Strengthen community outcomes by collaborating with government, non-government and community partners to support families facing complex challenges.

About You

  • Hold a relevant tertiary qualification (allied health, social work, human services) with professional registration (if required) and, a membership in a professional association (desirable).
  • At least two (2) years’ experience working within the child protection field, with the ability to identify family and individual client needs using a child-centred approach and respond to child protection concerns.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia (proof of eligibility required), including holding or obtaining required checks (Working with Children Check or professional exemption).
  • Current driver’s licence.
