About the Role

Our JBS Townsville Plant is currently recruiting the next generation of leadership to join our team! Working closely with the Plant Manager, the Assistant Manager plays a key role in the day-to-day leadership and performance of the facility. This position is responsible for coordinating and supporting production operations to ensure the safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of high-quality products in line with JBS standards. The Assistant Manager will lead and develop production leaders, foster a positive and engaged workplace culture and ensure the JBS values are reflected in everyday decision-making.

The role requires a strong focus on workplace health and safety, food safety, operational performance, compliance and continuous improvement. You will work collaboratively across the business to maximise productivity, maintain company assets, support employee engagement initiatives and ensure the plant remains operationally ready each day. In partnership with the HR team and senior leadership, you will contribute to workforce development, performance management and the resolution of workplace matters, while providing regular feedback and insights on operational performance. You will also be involved in future planning and development strategies, including capital expenditure initiatives, and will assume the responsibilities of the Plant Manager during periods of absence. Additional duties may be required as directed by the senior leadership team.

About You

  • Relevant industry experience (ideally 5+ years) in a senior supervisory position gained from working at JBS or a similar organisation
  • Tertiary Qualifications in business, engineering or related discipline advantageous though not required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in communications, delegations and supervisory skills with strong interpersonal skills
  • Must be prepared to undertake further training to upskill as required
  • Demonstrated computer literacy in excel, word and outlook
  • Ability to respond calmly in difficult situations maintaining a strong customer service focus
  • Exceptional ability to prioritise and multi-task
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously as well as within a team environment
  • Ability to takes other's perspective's into consideration
  • Energetic, passionate and enthusiastic with a demonstrated focus on system improvement

Located 12km south of Townsville, a major gateway to Queensland’s world-renowned Great Barrier Reef, the JBS Townsville Plant is JBS Australia’s most northern operation. Cattle are sourced from a wide supply area, including the Northern Territory, north and north-western Queensland and packed into the AMH brand, the most trusted name in beef. The plant employs approximately 500 team members with a processing capacity of 900 head of cattle per day.
