About the Opportunity

The Legal Officer at the State Redress Response Unit (SRRU) will assist to ensure that the South Australian Government meets its requirements in responding to formal and informal requests from the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse (the National Redress Scheme) and will provide advice to the Attorney-General and Chief Executive on legal policy and law reform relevant to the National Redress Scheme, under the supervision of the Manager of the SRRU. The Legal Officer will liaise with the Crown Solicitor's Office (CSO) and other government department executives and staff to ensure timely, accurate and agreed responses and interactions with the National Redress Scheme.

The Legal Officer at the Office of the JCC will assist in undertaking their role by reviewing and examining complaints received by the JCC, providing legal advice, and drafting correspondence for the JCC in response to complaints received.

The Legal Officer will have a dual role within the SRRU and the Office of the JCC.

The Attorney-General’s Department (AGD) supports the State Redress Response Unit (SRRU) and the Judicial Conduct Commissioner (JCC).

SRRU coordinates the participation of the South Australia Government in the National Redress Scheme for Institutional Child Sexual Abuse (the National Redress Scheme).

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.
