A large Federal Government organisation is seeking an experienced Compliance & Assurance Officer to join a collaborative team responsible for complex reporting, governance and assurance activities. This is an opportunity to apply your analytical and stakeholder engagement skills in a role that contributes to informed decision-making and continuous improvement across a nationally significant program area.
Your new role
As an APS6 Compliance & Assurance Officer, you will play a key role in supporting assurance, compliance and reporting activities. Working alongside policy, program and analytical teams, you will assess information, identify emerging risks and contribute to process improvements that strengthen governance outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review and assess complex reports and assurance documentation
- Identify risks, trends and issues requiring further investigation or escalation
- Support compliance, reporting and governance activities
- Develop and maintain guidance materials, FAQs and operational documentation
- Analyse information to support evidence-based decision-making
- Work closely with stakeholders to resolve issues and improve reporting quality
- Contribute to business process improvement initiatives
- Support the ongoing development of assurance frameworks and reporting requirements
What you'll need to succeed
- Must be an Australian citizen with a minimum Baseline security clearance
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Experience within audit, compliance, assurance, risk or governance functions
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to assess complex information
- Experience identifying risks and making sound recommendations
- Excellent written communication skills, including preparing guidance materials and stakeholder communications
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capabilities
- Ability to interpret and apply policy, legislative or regulatory requirements
- Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams
