Turf Management & Irrigation Apprenticeships - Adelaide, SA

Kickstart your career in the turf and irrigation industry with a hands-on apprenticeship working across some of South Australia's golf courses, sporting grounds, council reserves, schools and landscaped spaces.

Programmed Apprenticeships & Traineeships are seeking motivated individuals to join our client, a leading South Australian turf and irrigation company with over 20 years of industry experience.

We currently have opportunities available across two apprenticeship pathways:

  • Certificate III in Sports Turf Management
  • Certificate III in Irrigation Technology

You'll work alongside experienced industry professionals, gaining practical skills while completing a nationally recognised qualification.

About the Opportunities

Sports Turf Management Apprenticeship

If you enjoy working outdoors and have an interest in sports grounds, golf courses, horticulture or turf maintenance, this could be the perfect opportunity to turn that interest into a career.

You'll gain hands-on experience across a variety of turf environments and learn how to:

  • Maintain and prepare sports turf surfaces, golf courses and playing fields
  • Operate and maintain equipment including ride-on mowers, tractors and whipper snippers
  • Assist with turf renovation programs
  • Install, maintain and troubleshoot irrigation systems
  • Control weeds, pests, diseases and turf disorders
  • Safely undertake chemical spraying
  • Conduct turf assessments and assist with turf management plans
  • Work safely in outdoor environments and follow WHS procedures

Irrigation Apprenticeship

The Irrigation Apprenticeship is ideal for someone interested in learning the technical side of irrigation systems and developing practical skills across a range of outdoor environments.

You'll learn how to:

  • Install, operate and maintain irrigation systems
  • Read and interpret irrigation plans
  • Install pressurised systems, pumps and drainage systems
  • Monitor soil and site conditions
  • Troubleshoot and repair irrigation systems
  • Work with modern technology including sensor-based controllers
  • Apply environmentally sustainable irrigation practices
  • Follow workplace health and safety requirements

You'll develop a broad range of skills in irrigation installation, maintenance and management while working across a variety of sites throughout South Australia.

What We're Looking For

We're looking for applicants who have:

  • A genuine interest in turf management, irrigation or working outdoors
  • A willingness to learn and commit to completing an apprenticeship
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • A reliable, punctual and enthusiastic attitude
  • The ability to work well as part of a team
  • A White Card
  • A current driver's licence, or be in the process of obtaining one, is preferred

Turf applicants only: You will also be required to obtain a WWCC and relevant Catholic school clearances.
