GENERAL LABOURER
- Seeking experienced Asphalt Labourers and Plant Operators for road construction projects.

Protech are currently seeking experienced Asphalt Labourers and Plant Operators for ongoing road construction and asphalt paving projects across Cairns and surrounding areas.
Working as part of a skilled paving crew, you’ll assist with the delivery of civil and road infrastructure projects, operating plant where required while also undertaking hands-on labouring duties. This role offers excellent earning potential through overtime and working away opportunities, with ongoing work available for reliable and safety-focused candidates.
Applicants must hold a current Driver’s Licence, White Card, and have previous civil construction, roadworks, asphalt, or related industry experience.

- $40.26 per hour + penalties, overtime and allowances

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties may include:
- Asphalt paving and road construction activities
- Operating rollers, skid steers and other plant where qualified
- Assisting with paver operations
- Spotting trucks, plant and equipment
- Raking, shovelling and sweeping asphalt
- Conducting pre-start inspections
- Loading and unloading equipment and materials
- General civil labouring duties
- Site housekeeping and clean-up
- Following all site safety procedures and requirements
- Supporting the crew to meet daily production targets
TICKETS & EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Construction White Card
- Previous civil construction, roadworks, asphalt or labouring experience
- Strong commitment to workplace safety
- Reliable and punctual
- Physically fit and capable of manual labour
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
Highly Regarded
- Asphalt paving experience
- Roller operating experience
- Skid Steer / Bobcat experience
- Loader experience
- Traffic Control tickets
- Additional civil construction tickets and licences

While plant operating opportunities are available, all crew members are expected to assist with labouring tasks as required. Applicants must be willing to get involved with all aspects of paving operations and work as part of a team.
