Our client, GOLDEN AGRI PTY LTD, a growing banana farming business, is seeking an experienced Production Horticulturist to oversee banana cultivation, crop management and harvesting. Due to business expansion and increased production demands, the role is essential for improving crop quality, productivity and farm operations. Responsibilities include planning cultivation activities, managing irrigation and fertilisation, monitoring crop health, controlling pests and diseases, supervising farm workers, coordinating harvesting, maintaining production records and ensuring compliance with relevant agricultural, environmental and workplace health and safety requirements.

Job Responsibility:

Manage production, including cultivation, irrigation, plant health, harvesting and post-harvest handling. Supervise workers, monitor yields and cost, and ensure fruit quality, productivity and workplace safety.

Duties:

· Prepare and manage land for banana cultivation in accordance with established farming procedures.

· Develop daily, weekly and monthly schedules for banana planting, cultivation, maintenance and harvesting activities.

· Train and supervise farm workers and machinery operators to ensure tasks are completed efficiently and safely.

· Inspect cultivation work, assess crop conditions and implement corrective measures to improve banana production.

· Ensure the availability of fertilisers, pesticides, planting materials, machinery and other essential farming inputs.

· Operate, inspect and maintain tractors, agricultural implements and machinery used in banana plantation operations.

· Coordinate with farm managers, agronomists and maintenance staff to organise production activities and resolve operational issues.

· Monitor banana crops for pests, diseases and nutrient deficiencies and implement appropriate control measures.

· Operate and maintain irrigation systems to ensure adequate water supply for healthy banana crop growth.

· Prepare and apply approved fertilisers and agricultural chemicals to maintain soil fertility and control pests, weeds and diseases.

· Coordinate banana harvesting and post-harvest handling to maintain fruit quality and minimise crop damage and losses.

· Maintain plantation drainage systems, monitor banana nursery plants and undertake soil fumigation where required.

Qualification:

· AQF Certificate IV or Higher

· Minimum 2-3 year of experience in related field

Salary:

· $70,000 - 85,000 + Superannuation

Working Condition:

· Full Time - 38 hours per week
