About Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services

Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Services Ltd (KAMS) is the peak regional Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Established in 1986, KAMS was formed to provide a unified voice for Aboriginal health and well-being, and to deliver centralised resources and collective advocacy in partnership with its Member Services. KAMS is governed by a Board of Directors made up of Aboriginal health leaders from across its Member Services.

Our vision is that all Kimberley Aboriginal people are empowered to be strong, healthy, and connected through Aboriginal community-controlled services.  Our purpose is to deliver holistic health and well-being outcomes in partnership with Aboriginal-led organisations, centred around Aboriginal culture and knowledge.

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse - Level 2 will be based in Kununurra on a Full-time Fixed Term 6 month Contract. You will manage a varied patient caseload and deliver culturally safe nursing care, adhering to established protocols and best practise guidelines. This role includes supervising new staff, contributing to multidisciplinary teamwork, and taking on shift coordination responsibilities to ensure quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver culturally safe, high-quality renal nursing care.
  • Supervise and support junior nursing staff in their clinical development.
  • Contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives within the Renal Health Centre.
  • Manage patient transfers and coordinate multidisciplinary meetings to ensure seamless patient care.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to Aboriginal Community Control and demonstrate excellent communication and organisational skills. You will be an effective team player and role model, dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and patient care.

  • Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration.
  • Minimum 18 months’ experience in haemodialysis nursing.
  • Proven experience in supervising junior staff.
  • Current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain one.

Salary & Benefits

The base salary for this role is $123,992 per annum, with additional benefits including:

  •  Accommodation allowance of $13,000 per annum pro rata 
  • Relocation reimbursement up to $5,000 (upon providing receipts)
  • Option for salary sacrifice up to $30,000 per annum pro rata.
