What this role will involve:

The Data Scientist is a member of the team responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and evolving
the IRIS Graph Analytics Platform and underlying graph database within the Data Science and
Analytics Division. The role exists to design and deliver high-value graph analytics capabilities that
support intelligence and operational outcomes for Western Australia Police Force users.

Contract - ASAP until end of June 2027, Australian Citizenship, Perth location

Key responsibilities:

Within the Data Capability & Insights unit, the Data Scientist will:

  • Work with Data Science team to develop machine learning and LLM solutions in Databricks.
  • Build and analyse graph data models in Neo4j using the GDS library for policing use cases.
  • Integrate Data Science solutions into IRIS.

Key experience required:

  • Data Engineer Skills

Essential Technical / Non-Technical

  • Strong experience in Data Science, Python, Machine Learning and LLMs.
  • Experience with Neo4j Graph Data Science and/or Databricks (desirable).
  • Experience with Cypher (desirable).
  • Relevant tertiary qualification

Highly Desirable Technical / Non-Technical

  • Experience integrating graph data science, machine learning, NLP or LLM-driven components into analytics platforms
  • Experience working across enterprise data platforms and cloud-based analytics environments
  • Experience working in a multi-vendor or enterprise-scale analytics environment
  • Experience providing expert technical advice and recommendations on graph analytics and data capability development
  • Experience working with Azure DevOps Kanban Boards
  • Public sector or policing domain experience
