WHS Coordinator

About 5B

5B is an Australian clean technology company on a mission to accelerate the world’s transition to renewable energy.

We’re transforming the way solar farms are built through the 5B Maverick — a prefabricated solar solution designed from first principles to deliver faster deployment, greater efficiency and lower costs. Structurally efficient, aerodynamic and installed at lightning speed, Maverick is redefining large-scale solar construction around the world.

The Opportunity

Safety at 5B is built on the factory floor, with the people doing the work.

We’re looking for a WHS Coordinator to be the practical, go-to safety partner across our Adelaide manufacturing sites at Cross Keys Road and Cheviot Road.

You’ll report to the Senior Operations Manager, with a dotted line to our Senior Manager Safety. You’ll work alongside supervisors, workers and health and safety representatives to manage risk, strengthen controls and deliver our site WHS plan. You’ll also lead injury management as our designated Return to Work Coordinator.

This is a permanent full-time role based on site in Adelaide. It’s a real chance to shape how safety works in a fast-growing manufacturing operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the site WHS plan: Manage the annual plan of inspections, assurance, emergency drills, training and health monitoring, and keep completion records up to date.
  • Help teams manage risk: Facilitate risk assessments with managers, supervisors and workers, maintain risk records and check that controls actually work.
  • Coordinate incident investigations: Gather evidence, conduct interviews and guide supervisors through contributing factors and effective corrective actions.
  • Lead injury management and return to work: Work with injured workers, managers, treating practitioners and providers to support recovery and a safe return to work.
  • Bring safety to life: Lead practical engagement initiatives such as seasonal campaigns, support consultation with workers and HSRs, and contribute to the monthly safety meeting.
  • Report on performance: Compile the monthly Adelaide WHS report and keep our online WHS reporting system accurate and current.
  • Stay ahead of regulation: Monitor changes to WHS and Heavy Vehicle National Law, and advise teams on Chain of Responsibility obligations for site transport activities.
  • Train and assure: Deliver inductions, toolbox sessions and workshops, and conduct site WHS audits against our WHSMS and ISO requirements.
  • Deliver the 5B WHS strategy: Carry out agreed strategic work plan activities at our Adelaide sites and report on progress.

About You

You’re a practical, people-centred safety professional who understands manufacturing and can turn WHS requirements into action that makes sense on the floor.

You’ll bring:

  • Manufacturing experience, with a practical understanding of plant, mobile equipment and other significant site risks.
  • A formal WHS qualification, such as a WHS Diploma, a relevant NEBOSH qualification or equivalent.
  • Proven ability to facilitate risk assessments, support effective investigations and translate WHS requirements into practical action.
  • ReturnToWorkSA-approved Return to Work Coordinator training, or willingness to complete it on appointment.
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills, with a collaborative approach.
  • Commercial awareness and the resourcefulness to adapt to changing priorities while maintaining legal requirements and effective controls.
  • High integrity, sound judgement and respect for confidentiality.
  • 3–5 years’ WHS experience is highly regarded.
  • Experience in injury management, ISO 45001, WHSMS assurance and digital WHS reporting systems is highly regarded.

Most importantly, you’re approachable, credible and proactive. You earn trust on the floor, speak up when something isn’t right, and enjoy working with people to make safe work the easy way to work.

Why 5B?

This is more than a compliance role. It’s an opportunity to help shape how safely we build the manufacturing future of renewable energy.

At 5B, you’ll work on globally impactful technology in a fast-moving environment where first principles thinking, practical innovation and speed matter.

You’ll also enjoy benefits designed to support life both inside and outside of work, including:

  • Flexible working
  • Birthday Leave
  • The option to salary sacrifice for an additional two weeks of annual leave
  • Increasing annual leave entitlements with tenure
  • Gender-neutral Parental Leave
  • Salary sacrifice opportunities for professional development, technology and EV/PHEV transportation
  • A collaborative, inclusive and mission-driven culture

If you’re passionate about safety and want to build something that makes a difference, we’d love to hear from you. Please attach your resume/CV as a pdf.
