Everyone's talking about Thriving Kids. Almost nobody's telling NSW Speech Pathologists what it actually means.

Curious what's coming for speech pathologists? Here's the short version.

What we're doing: building the Sydney and NSW Thriving Kids Clinician pool now. Contracts land October to November, and when your region confirms, this list gets called first, with organisation, location and pay. General supports (groups and playgroups) are due to start any day, and the 1:1 therapy wave starts January 2027.

Who we are: Be Recruitment works with NFPs across NSW every week, and we're already recruiting in this space, with live early childhood roles in market today. A number of organisations we work with are shaping their pipelines for this rollout. We are building for Thriving Kids roles across Western Sydney, Southwest Sydney, Northern Beaches, CBD Sydney, Eastern Suburbs, Southeast suburbs, Newcastle, Wollongong and more.

What we know:

  • Caseloads: ramp with DCJ referrals rather than landing all at once.
  • Start dates: we already have clients who want their hires to start in November, ready for the January ramp.
  • The work: foundational supports integrated in natural settings. Early language groups and parent-coached work first, then targeted supports including 1:1 therapy.
  • The perks: NFP salary packaging (up to $15,900 plus meals) applies across the board.

What we don't know yet: how face-to-face and non-face-to-face work splits, and what a real week actually looks like. There'll be some trial and error as the rollout finds its feet, and you'll help build it.

What we expect: grant-driven funding rather than NDIS revenue, so KPIs built around program design and outcomes, not just billable hours.

Have a say early: we're actively working with our clients to define these roles right now. Email me at david@berecruitment.com.au or hit apply with three quick things: your non-negotiables, your salary goals (we'll help with the NFP maths), and exactly what would make you say yes to a role like this. You help shape the roles, and we know precisely when to pick up the phone.

Occupational therapists and psychologists: same list, same first call.
