Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the retail store, ensuring efficient business activities and compliance with company policies.
- Plan and coordinate purchasing activities, negotiate with suppliers and maintain appropriate stock levels to meet customer demand.
- Monitor the quality, freshness, storage and display of fruits and vegetables to minimise spoilage and product wastage.
- Recruit, train, supervise and manage retail staff, including preparing work schedules and monitoring employee performance.
- Develop and implement sales strategies, pricing policies and promotional activities to maximise revenue and improve business performance.
- Monitor sales figures, operating expenses, stock turnover and profit margins to achieve financial and operational objectives.
- Maintain inventory records, organise stock replenishment and implement effective stock control procedures.
- Ensure high standards of customer service, respond to enquiries and resolve customer complaints professionally.
- Ensure the store complies with applicable workplace health and safety requirements, food safety standards and relevant business regulations.
- Coordinate the receipt, inspection and storage of incoming produce and maintain appropriate stock rotation procedures.
- Prepare and review sales reports, purchasing records, inventory statements and operational reports to support management decisions.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organisation and presentation of the retail premises to provide a safe and welcoming shopping environment.
Skills and Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in retail management, business management or a related field will be advantageous.
- Demonstrated experience in retail management or a similar supervisory role.
- Strong leadership, staff supervision and team coordination skills.
- Knowledge of retail operations, purchasing, inventory management and supplier coordination.
- Understanding of fresh produce handling, stock rotation, quality control and waste reduction.
- Good financial management, budgeting and sales analysis skills.
- Excellent communication, customer service and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple operational responsibilities.
- Ability to monitor business performance and implement strategies to improve sales and profitability.
