Your new company
Hays Recruitment is partnering with a well-established and growing Tasmanian construction and manufacturing organisation to recruit an experienced Chief Operating Officer to lead manufacturing operations and project delivery.
Located in Westbury, Tasmania, this is a key leadership role suited to a commercially minded operations professional who excels at building high-performing teams, implementing effective systems and driving operational excellence. You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring production runs efficiently, safely, on schedule and to the highest standards of quality. Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a critical role in shaping operational strategy, improving processes and supporting the continued growth of the business.

Your new role
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee all manufacturing-based operations from project commencement through to completion and dispatch.
Key responsibilities include:

Leading all operational activity across multiple concurrent projects Managing production schedules, workflows, resources and project timelines Providing leadership, coaching and support to Leading Hands and operational teams Driving accountability, productivity and continuous improvement across departments Conducting quality inspections and ensuring compliance with company standards Overseeing WHS performance and promoting a strong safety culture Coordinating closely with logistics teams to ensure projects are completed, compliant and transport-ready Implementing and maintaining operational systems, procedures and performance frameworks Identifying operational improvements that enhance efficiency, communication and scalability Providing regular reporting and updates to senior leadership on project performance, risks and operational outcomes.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:Demonstrated leadership experience within construction, manufacturing, modular construction or a related industryStrong project management and operational planning capabilitiesExperience implementing and improving operational systems and processesThe ability to manage multiple projects at varying stagesExcellent people leadership, communication and stakeholder management skillsA strong focus on quality, safety and continuous improvementSound understanding of WHS requirements and compliance obligationsThe ability to influence, motivate and drive accountability across teams.What you'll get in return
