Senior Design Manager - Highly Complex and Technical Projects
- Lead design management of live projects and pre-construction tenders.
- Manage Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) design and stakeholder management.
- Develop and maintain design standardisation and provide technical design management guidance.
Our client is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Design Manager to join their growing and successful business.
Ideal sector experience: Education, Science, Data Centre, Health, Pharma & Commercial.
This role is to take the lead on a recent Data Centre project award but also have involvement in ECI's across the other sectors they work in.
All work is on a negotiated basis.
Responsibilities:
- Senior Design Manager – Pre-construction and Standards: This is a senior role which provides support to the Directors and has overall responsibility for the management of pre-construction tenders, projects, Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) design management across all sectors and partnering with the Directors to embed front-end buildability design innovation and minimum design standards.
- With significant Design leadership expertise across a range of sectors, this role requires a creative problem-solving mindset and collaborative, client focused interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, identify and prioritise key outcomes in a pressured environment.
- Summary of key responsibilities and duties:
- Leading design management of live projects, pre-construction and price submissions for negotiated work
- Leading ECI design management, design thinking and stakeholder management
- Leading the development and maintenance of design standardisation through development of company standards, systems and processes
- Leading the coordination of ESG/ESD, services and digital engineering input in pre-construction phase
- Technical design management guidance as required
- Contribute to business planning objectives
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in architecture, construction management or engineering
- 8 + years of experience in design management in the construction industry
- Experience working on largescale construction projects from $50m upwards
- Experience of pre-construction design
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of construction project management tools and software
- Understanding of construction contracts and regulatory requirements
- Familiarity with building codes and standards
