Technical Sales Representative – Construction Chemicals & Building Products
Multiple roles | East Coast (locations to confirm) | Base + Bonus
The company
A global building products manufacturer and one of the clear market leaders in Australia. The business has a portfolio of around 2,000 products across waterproofing, sealants, flooring and specialist construction systems, and they're used on everything from apartment blocks to major infrastructure, data centres and large-scale warehouses.
Following a period of investment in their supply chain, the business is now in growth mode and is adding four new Technical Sales Representatives to its direct project sales team. These are new roles created to drive growth, not backfills.
The role
You'll own your own patch and your own customers, and you'll plan your days, weeks and months yourself. Your customers are the contractors who buy and install the product, such as waterproofing, flooring and epoxy applicators, ranging from established mid-size businesses to large national operators.

  • Grow an inherited portfolio of established accounts (around 70% of the role)
  • Bring on new applicators and win new business (around 30%)
  • Visit applicators, find out what projects they're working on and negotiate project and account pricing
  • Get products written into specifications
  • Spend time on site with applicators during installs
  • Use project leads from BCI and EstimateOne to get in early on upcoming work
  • Work alongside a dedicated major projects team on jobs over $100M

About you

  • A proven B2B sales background selling into trades, contractors or the construction site environment. Building products, power tools, fixings, equipment hire or similar
  • Comfortable on a job site and happy to get your hands dirty
  • Driven, competitive and motivated by building a territory, not just servicing it
  • Product knowledge isn't required. Full training is provided, and a product manager for each range is on hand to back you up
  • Full driver's licence. Pre-employment medical and drug and alcohol testing apply

What's on offer

  • Competitive base salary plus bonus
  • A strong existing book of business from day one
  • Genuine career progression: state manager roles are planned as the team grows, and there are internal opportunities across a large global business, including overseas
  • Flexible working: start your day from home and go straight to site, with no clock-in
  • Light admin: Salesforce, a weekly plan and a short monthly report
  • Minimal travel, with overnights only for occasional regional projects
  • A close, supportive team with a national sales conference and ongoing training
