About the Role
Haymac Engineering is looking for dedicated and skilled Metal Fabricators to join our team.
Some of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Read detail and shop drawings, weld maps and work orders to determine job requirements and fabrication sequence.
- Mark off and set out plate, structural sections and pipe, and cut using oxy, plasma and bandsaw.
- Shape and bend plate, sections and pipe using rolls, press brake and hand and machine tools.
- Prepare joints – bevel, grind and control fit-up tolerances.
- Assemble and fit metal sections and plate to fabricate structural steel members, frames, platforms, tanks and pipework.
- Set up welding machines and weld to qualified welding procedures using MMAW, GMAW/FCAW and GTAW.
- Examine welds, dress and finish joints, and rectify defects raised by visual or NDT inspection.
- Erect fabricated steelwork and install metal products on client sites, including repairs and modifications.
- Checking completed fabrication work for quality and accuracy and raising any issues with the Workshop Supervisor
You will need to have the following to be successful on the role.
- Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade, or an equivalent overseas trade qualification is advantageous.
- At least 3 years’ experience in metal fabrication, welding or a similar engineering workshop environment
- Strong hands-on experience with MIG, TIG and MMA welding and general fabrication work.
- Experience working with different metals is highly desired.
- Ability to produce quality fabrication work with good attention to detail and finish
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, measurements and job specifications
- Reliable team player with a practical, “can-do” attitude and the ability to complete work within required timeframes
Salary: $75,000 - $85,000 commensurate to skills and experience
