CHEF – FULL-TIME

Elpiet Projects Pty Ltd T/A Vaporetto Bar & Eatery is seeking a qualified and experienced Full-Time Chef to join our team.

Salary: $80,000 – $85,000 per annum

Location: Hawthorn, VIC 3122

Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook food in accordance with the restaurant's menu and recipes.
  • Ensure all food preparation, handling, storage, and presentation comply with relevant food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Oversee food plating and garnishing to maintain consistency and high-quality presentation.
  • Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements and customer needs.
  • Create and test new recipes, experimenting with flavours and cooking techniques to support menu innovation.
  • Monitor and regulate the temperature of stoves, ovens, grills, and other cooking equipment to ensure food is cooked correctly.
  • Inspect food quality and ensure ingredients are stored and handled in accordance with food health and safety regulations.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment in compliance with workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Assist with menu planning and estimating food and ingredient requirements.
  • Monitor food quality and assist in maintaining appropriate stock levels and minimising food wastage.
  • Work collaboratively with kitchen staff to ensure efficient kitchen operations and timely service.

Skills and Qualifications

  • AQF Associate Degree, Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Commercial Cookery or Hospitality.
  • Previous professional experience working as a Chef.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking methods, food preparation techniques, and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and effectively.
  • Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy hospitality environment.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work full-time.
