What does the job look like? 

As a Payroll Officer, you'll play a key role in the accurate and timely delivery of weekly and fortnightly payroll across Linfox's Australian operations. Working as part of a collaborative payroll team, you'll manage a state-based portfolio and support payroll outcomes in a large, fast-paced and high-volume environment.

This role is onsite based out of our HQ in Essendon Fields (VIC) 

Other duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • End-to-end processing of weekly and fortnightly payrolls.
  • Processing timesheets and payroll adjustments.
  • Managing employee onboarding, offboarding, transfers and payroll variations.
  • Maintaining accurate employee master data and payroll records.
  • Processing leave transactions and reconciling employee entitlements, including long service leave.
  • Calculating termination payments and processing off-cycle payments as required.
  • Conducting payroll audits, reconciliations and quality checks to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Responding to payroll enquiries and providing support to employees, site teams and key business stakeholders.
  • Interpreting and applying relevant payroll legislation, awards, enterprise agreements and state-based requirements.
  • Preparing payroll reports and supporting payroll-related analysis and reporting activities.
  • Maintaining payroll procedures, checklists and process documentation.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes and enhance service delivery.

You thrive in a team setting, build strong relationships with stakeholders and bring a positive, customer-focused approach to your work. Most importantly, you're willing to learn, contribute and support a team committed to delivering an exceptional payroll service.

The ideal candidate can demonstrate: 

  • Minimum 3 years' payroll experience in a large and complex environment.
  • Experience processing payroll from start to finish.
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, awards and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with onboarding, offboarding, leave management and payroll reconciliations.
  • Knowledge of state-based long service leave requirements.
  • Payroll systems experience, with SAP experience highly desirable.
  • Exposure to time and attendance systems such as Kronos will be highly regarded.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management capability.
  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
