This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience while completing your plumbing apprenticeship in an environment that offers plenty of variety. From residential properties and commercial facilities to essential island utilities, you'll be exposed to a diverse range of plumbing maintenance activities while learning from experienced, licensed tradespeople.

Working alongside the Programmed Facility Management team, you'll develop the practical skills, technical knowledge and confidence needed to build a successful career as a qualified plumber.

About the role

As an Apprentice Plumber, no two days will be quite the same. You will have the opportunity to:

  • Assist licensed plumbers with the installation, maintenance and repair of plumbing systems, including pipes, fixtures and appliances
  • Gain practical, hands-on experience across residential, commercial and utility maintenance throughout Rottnest Island
  • Learn to interpret plans, specifications and relevant plumbing codes to support safe and compliant work
  • Assist with diagnosing plumbing faults, troubleshooting issues and identifying appropriate solutions
  • Develop confidence using a range of plumbing tools and equipment safely and correctly
  • Contribute to maintaining clean, organised and safe work areas
  • Attend and actively participate in all required training and off-the-job learning as part of your apprenticeship

About you

We're looking for someone who is enthusiastic about starting a career in the plumbing industry and is ready to learn. You will ideally have:

  • Completion of Year 10 or equivalent
  • A genuine interest in plumbing and developing a career in the trade
  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • The ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team
  • A good level of physical fitness, including the ability to work in small or confined spaces
  • A valid driver's licence and reliable transport
  • The ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical and obtain a police clearance

Why this opportunity?

An apprenticeship is about more than gaining a qualification, it's about building the skills and experience that will set you up for your future career.

With the variety of work undertaken across Rottnest Island, you'll have the opportunity to develop broad, practical plumbing experience while working in a location unlike most other apprenticeships.
