About the Role:

Anglicare NT is looking for a passionate Child & Family Counsellor to join the Resolve program in Ludmilla, Darwin.

This is an opportunity to provide counselling, therapeutic group work, psychoeducation and community capacity-building activities to children, young people, couples, families and individuals.

You’ll use evidence-based, strengths-focused and trauma-informed approaches to provide assessment, safety planning, counselling, referrals and practical skills development that support wellbeing and resilience.

The role also involves community outreach, education, service promotion and networking, helping to strengthen connections and referral pathways across the regional service system.

About You:

You will have:

  • A tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling or a related social science discipline 

  • Eligibility for membership/credentialing with a relevant professional body 

  • Experience providing counselling to individuals, couples, families and children 

  • Knowledge and experience with evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including trauma-informed, strengths-based, solution-focused, CBT, narrative or restorative practice 

  • Professional registration/membership with an appropriate body such as ACA, AASW, AHPRA or PACFA 

  • Strong communication, assessment, report writing and case documentation skills 

  • An understanding of family law, child protection and domestic and family violence 

  • A commitment to culturally safe and inclusive practice, particularly when working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities 

What you’ll be doing:

You’ll provide professional counselling to individuals, families, couples and children and young people aged 5–18, undertake intake and risk assessments, develop safety plans, coordinate referrals and contribute to holistic support networks.

You’ll also facilitate group programs, provide community education, participate in interagency networks and contribute to ongoing service development and continuous improvement.

The position requires some flexibility outside normal business hours, including occasional early evening work for group and educational programs.
