About the Role:

Congress is seeking an experienced Paediatric Clinical Neuropsychologist to join the Child, Youth and Assessment & Treatment Service (CYATS) team in Alice Springs/Mparntwe.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide comprehensive neuropsychological assessment and clinical recommendations for Aboriginal children and young people experiencing a range of neurodevelopmental disorders and complex conditions.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to assessment, diagnosis and intervention planning across conditions including Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

The CYATS team is expanding its capacity to provide services remotely, providing an opportunity for clinicians to work across both Alice Springs and surrounding remote communities.

About the Team:

You will work alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team including:

  • Neuropsychologists

  • Occupational Therapists

  • Speech Pathologists

  • Aboriginal Family Support Workers

  • Clinical Case Coordinators

  • Senior Management and Team Leaders

The team works closely with Paediatricians and other medical specialists from Alice Springs Hospital, as well as allied health professionals across Government community health services.

You will also have access to specialised training and resources relating to FASD assessment and diagnosis through partnerships with external providers and research organisations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a complex caseload, providing evidence-based and culturally safe neuropsychological assessment and treatment recommendations.

  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic neuropsychological assessments for children and young people.

  • Prepare high-quality multidisciplinary diagnostic reports and recommendations, including reports supporting NDIS access where applicable.

  • Contribute to clinical case formulation and intervention planning.

  • Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences and collaborative care planning.

  • Apply contemporary clinical practice standards and culturally responsive approaches to Aboriginal Social and Emotional Wellbeing.

  • Provide clinical supervision to less experienced practitioners when required.

  • Contribute to the development of clinical practices, procedures and protocols.

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive clinical records.

  • Work autonomously while actively contributing to a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A Master’s degree or higher in Clinical Neuropsychology.

  • Full AHPRA registration with Clinical Neuropsychology endorsement.

  • Demonstrated experience in diagnostic neuropsychological assessment, case formulation and behavioural intervention.

  • Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong neuropsychological report writing and clinical recommendation skills.

  • An understanding of Aboriginal culture, cultural sensitivities and issues affecting Aboriginal communities.

  • A commitment to culturally safe and respectful clinical practice.

  • The ability and willingness to travel to remote locations, including occasional overnight stays and travel by 4WD where required.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander children, young people or families.

  • Knowledge of NDIS processes.

  • Experience working with people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
