Location: Head Office - Unit 1 53-55 Commercial Drive, Shailer Park, Queensland 4128

Section: Projects - Site Works

Remuneration Package

$79,423 + superannuation (Min 38 hours/week)

Summary

The Survey Technician is responsible for providing accurate survey set-out and survey support for the construction of civil works and infrastructure. The role works closely with Senior Surveyors, Site Supervisors, Machine Operators and construction crews to ensure works are constructed in accordance with approved design plans and that accurate survey information is available throughout the project.

Key Responsibilities

➢ Provide survey set-out for civil construction works and infrastructure, including roads, kerb and channel, stormwater, sewer, watermain, retaining walls and earthworks.

➢ Carry out surface surveys to determine quantities of completed works progressively throughout projects.

➢ Complete as-constructed surveys as required.

➢ Update machine control files and models as required.

➢ Review and interpret design plans and survey information to determine the required set-out.

➢ Coordinate survey requirements with Site Supervisors, Project Managers and other members of the construction team.

➢ Check completed works against design levels, grades and alignments.

➢ Maintain accurate survey records and field information.

➢ Maintain and care for survey equipment.

➢ Provide general survey support to the project team as required.

Main Duties

➢ Undertake survey set-out for civil construction activities.

➢ Complete surface and feature surveys for quantities and progress measurements.

➢ Set out levels, grades, alignments and other construction requirements in accordance with design plans.

➢ Prepare and update machine control files for GPS-equipped plant.

➢ Undertake checks of completed works.

➢ Liaise with Site Supervisors and machine operators regarding survey requirements.

➢ Maintain accurate records of survey work undertaken.

➢ Ensure survey equipment is maintained and operated correctly.

➢ Complete other survey-related duties as directed.

Requirements:

1) Level of required qualification: Advanced Diploma or Diploma. At least three years of relevant experience can substitute the formal qualifications.

2) Number of years of experience: At least three years of work experience in the occupation, or closely related occupation.

3) Other Main requirements to be considered for the position:

  • Previous experience in a survey role within the civil construction industry.
  • Experience undertaking construction set-out and surface surveys.
  • Experience using GPS and conventional survey equipment.
  • Experience updating and managing machine control files.
  • Current Australian Driver Licence is essential.
  • Ability to identify and resolve potential survey issues on site.
  • Understanding of machine control systems and machine file requirements.
