FOI Lawyer (Baseline Clearance)
- Manage and oversee FOI requests for a federal government department.
- Assist with processing FOI requests and internal review applications.
- Ensure compliance with the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth).
The Role
Our client is seeking a Freedom of Information (FOI) Lawyer to work on secondment with a high profile federal government department, managing and overseeing FOI requests received by the Department.
The Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be required to:
- assisting the business area with processing FOI requests, including, as drafting correspondence to external stakeholders to undertake consultation as required, reviewing documents relevant to the FOI requests, including redacting documents, and drafting decisions;
- assisting with processing internal reviews applications; of all FOI requests received by the department, ensuring compliance with the statutory obligations contained in the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth) (FOI Act);
- representing the team with internal stakeholders, and engaging with external applicants when necessary; and
- any other FOI related tasks.
The Requirements
Previous experience working as an FOI Lawyer in a federal government department and knowledge and understanding of the FOI Act and a Baseline clearance is essential.
