SkillQuest Solutions is seeking an experienced Aged Care Worker on behalf of our client, an established aged care provider located in Glenroy, Victoria.

With a dedicated team of aged care workers, this organisation provides personalised aged care services that support older people to maintain their dignity, independence and quality of life. Working closely with residents, their families and healthcare professionals, care is tailored to each person’s individual needs, preferences and daily routines and delivered in a practical, respectful and compassionate manner.

Position – Aged Care Worker

Location – Glenroy, Victoria 3046

Salary - $65,000 - $72,000 plus superannuation per annum

Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent

THE ROLE:

The successful applicant will provide practical, person-centred assistance to older people who require support with personal care, everyday activities and social participation, including residents living with dementia, reduced mobility or other age-related conditions.

Working under the guidance of the Clinical Care Coordinator and/or Registered Nurses and in accordance with individual care plans, you will help residents feel safe, respected and supported while encouraging their independence and choice.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

· Assist residents with personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence care, while respecting their privacy, dignity, preferences and consent.

· Support residents with movement, positioning and transfers and the safe use of mobility aids in accordance with individual care plans and appropriate manual-handling procedures.

· Assist with daily living activities, including meals, eating and drinking and other everyday tasks identified within individual care plans.

· Provide appropriate care and assistance to older people living with dementia, reduced mobility and other age-related support needs.

· Follow individual care plans and provide support according to each resident's identified needs, preferences, routines and level of independence.

· Provide companionship and encourage residents to participate in appropriate social, recreational and daily activities.

· Observe residents and promptly report changes in wellbeing, mobility, behaviour or daily functioning to the appropriate supervisor, Registered Nurse or healthcare professional.

· Maintain accurate and timely care notes, progress records and incident documentation in accordance with organisational requirements.

· Communicate respectfully and effectively with residents, families, colleagues, Registered Nurses and other healthcare professionals.

· Follow appropriate manual-handling procedures when assisting residents with mobility, positioning and transfers.

· Support residents' choice, independence and participation in decisions relating to their everyday care and activities.

· Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries when providing care and handling resident information.

· Follow infection prevention and control procedures, safeguarding requirements and workplace health and safety practices.

· Comply with individual care plans, aged care procedures, organisational policies and relevant quality and safety requirements.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

· Relevant qualification, such as a Certificate III or IV in Individual Support (Ageing), Aged Care or similar, or agreed equivalent.

· Minimum of two years of relevant professional experience providing direct care and support to older people within an aged care environment.

· Demonstrated experience providing hands-on personal care, including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting and continence care.

· Practical experience supporting older people with mobility, transfers and mobility aids, including the application of safe manual-handling procedures.

· Experience supporting older people living with dementia, reduced mobility and/or other aged-related care needs.

· Demonstrated ability to follow individual care plans and provide support in accordance with documented care needs and resident preferences.

· Ability to observe and recognise changes in a resident's wellbeing, mobility, behaviour or daily functioning and report concerns appropriately.

· Experience completing care notes, progress records and incident documentation accurately and promptly.

· Understanding of infection prevention and control, confidentiality, safeguarding, duty of care and professional boundaries within an aged care environment.

· Ability to provide respectful and compassionate care while supporting resident dignity, choice and independence.

· Good verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with residents, families and healthcare professionals.

· Ability to work independently when required and collaboratively as part of an aged care team.

· Current First Aid and CPR certification.

· Current satisfactory Police Check and/or applicable worker screening clearance.

· You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.

WHAT IS ON OFFER:

· A competitive salary of $65,000 to $72,000 plus superannuation per annum, dependent on experience.
