About the Role
GRIT Solutions Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join its technology team in Canberra. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, deploying and maintaining software applications and services for client and business requirements.
The role involves working across the full software development lifecycle and collaborating with developers, technical specialists, business stakeholders and project teams to deliver reliable, scalable and secure software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into effective software solutions.
- Design, develop, test and maintain high-quality software applications and backend services.
- Developing solutions using .NET, C#, Vue.js, TypeScript and Python
- Building and enhancing microservices and REST APIs
- Hands on experience in WPF, .Net frameworks, MVC, and Python
- Develop application components integrating with relational databases and external systems.
- Use AI tooling, primarily Claude, as a core part of your development workflow, while retaining full understanding and ownership of the code that ships.
- Write clean, maintainable, reusable and well-tested code in accordance with software engineering standards.
- Perform unit testing, debugging, troubleshooting and defect resolution.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to software quality and development standards.
- Develop and maintain automated build, testing and deployment processes.
- Work with Git/GitLab and CI/CD tools to support continuous integration and continuous delivery.
- Deploy and support applications in cloud environments, including AWS.
- Explore and adopt AI-assisted software development and automation tools to improve developer productivity, code quality, testing and operational efficiency.
- Work with infrastructure-as-code and automation technologies such as Terraform.
- Monitor application performance, analyse application logs and investigate production incidents.
- Identify and resolve technical issues and contribute to root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Develop technical documentation, system documentation and operational procedures.
- Participate in technical design and architecture discussions.
- Collaborate with business analysts, software developers, testers, DevOps engineers and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, automation, application performance and software security.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives.
- Support software releases, deployments and production maintenance activities.
Technical Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Professional experience in software development or software engineering.
- Strong programming experience with .NET, C#, Vue.js, TypeScript and Python.
- Experience with .NET 8/9+, ******* Core, Entity Framework Core, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Terraform, Kafka, CI/CD.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Experience working with SQL and relational databases, preferably MySQL.
- Experience with Git and GitLab.
- Knowledge of CI/CD practices and automated software deployment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering or a related discipline is desirable.
- Relevant professional software development experience will also be considered.
