DFP Recruitment is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to join a Federal Government client.

The Senior DevOps Engineer plays a lead role in delivering and supporting complex technology solutions. Working closely with business stakeholders and development teams, the role provides technical leadership, drives continuous improvement, resolves complex issues, and supports the successful delivery of projects. The position also manages key stakeholder relationships, provides strategic advice to senior leaders, and represents the client to ensure technology outcomes align with organisational priorities.

Key responsibilities

• Design, development, deployment, and support of the Agency’s Cloud & Data Infrastructure.
• Prioritising and managing the work queue to ensure timely delivery of key initiatives.
• Ensuring that all solutions adhere to integration best practices and are well documented.
• Collaborating with business stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
• Playing a key leadership role in project teams, utilising an agile development framework.
• Engaging with stakeholders to define project requirements, set priorities, and deliver results.

Note: Responsibilities may evolve in line with changing organisational priorities.

Essential criteria

• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS and/or Azure infrastructure and services, with proven ability to design, implement, and manage scalable cloud solutions.
• Strong experience in building and deploying DevOps practices, tools, and continuous delivery pipelines, including GitLab, Artifactory, and Jira, to streamline development workflows.
• Expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform for automating infrastructure provisioning and management.
• Proficiency with version control systems like Git, combined with a solid understanding of agile development methodologies to support collaborative, iterative development.
• Ability to write and maintain moderately complex code across multiple programming languages, including Python, JavaScript, and Golang.
• In-depth experience with containerization, cluster deployment, and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring efficient application delivery and management.

Desirable criteria

• Proficiency in administering AWS and Azure infrastructure, expanding multi-cloud capabilities.
• Familiarity with HashiCorp Vault for securing sensitive data and managing secrets across cloud infrastructure.
• Designing and managing intelligent CI/CD automation where AI agents execute discrete, permission-constrained tasks (e.g., auto-remediation, documentation, or testing).
