An excellent opportunity for a recently qualified or finalist accountant looking to move from Big Four financial services audit into an in-house role.
You’ll join a leading investment manager in a broad financial accounting position, with hands-on exposure to the valuation and reporting of investment portfolios. Working with experienced colleagues across the business, you’ll build on your audit training while developing practical expertise across asset classes such as equities, fixed income, foreign exchange and derivatives.

The role

• Prepare and review daily and periodic valuations across a range of investment funds and portfolios.
• Work with pricing and valuation data across multiple asset classes, including equities, fixed income, foreign exchange and derivatives.
• Investigate valuation differences, price movements and other breaks, liaising with fund administrators, custodians and investment teams.
• Review derivative positions and related accounting, including the impact of trades, settlements and corporate actions on fund valuations.
• Reconcile holdings, cash balances and transactions to help ensure portfolio records and financial reporting are accurate.
• Analyse daily profit and loss, investigate material movements and explain key drivers.
• Support month-end and year-end close, statutory accounts, audit and other financial reporting requirements.
• Contribute to valuation controls and process improvements.
• Work with colleagues across finance and the wider business, as well as external service providers.

About you

• ACA or ACCA qualified, or approaching qualification.
• Experience at a Big Four or other major accountancy firm, auditing financial services clients.
• A good grounding in financial reporting and accounting standards.
• Strong analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Confident managing deadlines and building relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Motivated to move into industry and develop expertise in investment management and portfolio valuations.

This role would suit someone ready to apply their audit experience in a hands-on finance position and gain broader exposure to the valuation and reporting of investment portfolios.
