Civil Engineering and Survey Associate

SMK Consultants is a well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy which offers environmental, engineering, surveying and associated consultancy services to a wide range of projects across rural Australia and selected locations overseas. We have a diverse team of qualified and professional staff which enables us to undertake projects across a range of sectors. The Company was founded in 1972 in Moree. SMK Consultants undertakes work across Australia, with the majority of projects located in northern New South Wales and southern Queensland.

We currently have a position available for a Civil Engineering and Survey Associate.

Applicant will be based in Moree with work extending predominantly throughout NSW and Queensland.

The candidate must be able to effectively communicate with staff and clients, work in an office and field environment, and follow instructions and work with all staff.

Tasks include:

·Calculate and draft irrigation channels. Assist in design capacity calculations and Hydraulic assessment.

·Assist engineering in Pressure Pipeline Design and associated equipment

·Geo Technical Site Classification. Assist in collection of samples and delivery to laboratory.

·Assist in Irrigation Design – working under engineering supervision designing and drafting plans for: - Storage Reservoir, Drainage Channels, Pipe Sites. Assist in Earthworks calculations.

·Assist in Stormwater Runoff Calculations

·GPS Surveying and Drafting of Plans

·Field Work for Engineering Survey

·Field Work for Hydrographic Survey

·Survey reduction and drafting under supervision of a surveyor

·Preparation of reports, maps, and drawings using computer-aided design software.

·Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.

·Perform other duties as assigned by the Directors of SMK or senior staff.

Requirements:

•Degree in relevant technical area

•Three to six years relevant experience;

•Have excellent verbal and written communication skills;

•Be able to work independently and as part of a group;

•Have a neat and respectable work ethic;

•Good computer skills as a minimum.

Package:

·Full-time;

·38 hours per week (additional hours as reasonably required);

·Base Salary is $81,0816pa (based on Professional Employees Award 2020, level 2, with upward adjustment for experience as required);
