We are currently seeking a qualified Motor Mechanic to join our team in a full-time, long-term position at our Hindmarsh workshop.
Key Duties
The successful candidate will perform duties consistent with the occupation of Motor Mechanic (General), including:
- Detecting and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in engines, systems, and vehicle components
- Dismantling and removing engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, and other mechanical components for inspection
- Checking, testing, and assessing parts for wear, damage, and serviceability
- Repairing and replacing worn, defective, or damaged components
- Reassembling mechanical components and engines after repair in accordance with service manuals and manufacturer specifications
- Performing scheduled maintenance services such as oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, and engine tune-ups to ensure smooth vehicle operation and compliance with emission standards
- Testing, adjusting, and fine-tuning mechanical systems and components after repair to ensure proper performance and safety
- Diagnosing and testing vehicle systems and components using electronic diagnostic tools and computer-based equipment
- Inspecting vehicles and, where authorised, issuing roadworthiness assessments or identifying repairs required to achieve compliance
- Responding to vehicle breakdown service calls when required
- Maintaining accurate service records, job cards, and repair documentation
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements and manufacturer guidelines
Skills & Requirements
- Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent qualification recognised in Australia
- Minimum 3 year experience in automotive repair or workshop environment
- Strong diagnostic skills in mechanical and electrical systems
- Experience using computer-based diagnostic tools
- Ability to read and interpret service manuals and technical specifications
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Valid driver’s licence
