About the Role

Belair Gardens is seeking a dedicated, compassionate Residential Care Officer to join our team full-time. The successful candidate will provide care, support, and supervision to residents in a residential care setting, promoting their wellbeing, independence, and quality of life in a safe and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individual support and care to residents in accordance with their care plans and personal goals.
  • Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, household tasks, and community participation.
  • Monitor residents' wellbeing and report any changes in behaviour, health, or support needs.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, families, carers, and other stakeholders.
  • Support residents to achieve greater independence, social inclusion, and participation in community activities.
  • Assist with implementing and reviewing individualised care and support plans.
  • Maintain accurate records, progress notes, incident reports, and other required documentation.
  • Ensure a safe, clean, and supportive living environment for all residents.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies, incidents, and challenging behaviours in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with healthcare professionals, support coordinators, and community service providers to facilitate effective care and service delivery.
  • Promote residents' rights, dignity, privacy, and choice at all times.
  • Adhere to all relevant legislation, residential care standards, workplace health and safety requirements, and organisational policies.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant qualification in Community Services, Disability Support, Individual Support, Social Services, or a related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience working in residential care, disability support, aged care, or community services.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to person-centred care and supporting individual choice and independence.
  • Current National Police Check (or ability to obtain one).
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Current Driver's Licence (preferred).
