MLK Concrete Pty Ltd is a Queensland-based construction company specialising in concrete construction and formwork services for commercial, civil and residential projects. Its activities include structural concreting, formwork construction and tilt panel projects.
The company is currently seeking an experienced and skilled Carpenter for a permanent full-time position in Marcoola, QLD. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, assembling, installing and dismantling timber formwork and associated structures used in concrete construction projects, ensuring that all carpentry work meets construction drawings, project specifications, quality standards and workplace safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting construction plans, technical drawings and specifications to determine carpentry and formwork requirements.
- Measuring, marking, cutting and shaping timber, plywood and other materials used in formwork construction.
- Constructing and assembling formwork for concrete foundations, walls, columns, beams, suspended slabs and stairs.
- Installing, aligning and securing formwork panels, frames, supports and bracing to the required dimensions and specifications.
- Erecting temporary timber structures and supports required for concrete construction activities.
- Checking formwork measurements, levels, alignment and stability before concrete placement.
- Dismantling formwork and temporary structures following completion of the relevant construction stages.
- Operating and maintaining carpentry tools, power tools and equipment in accordance with safety procedures.
- Inspecting materials and completed carpentry work to ensure accuracy, quality and compliance with project requirements.
- Coordinating with site supervisors and other construction workers to ensure carpentry activities are completed efficiently and safely.
- Maintaining clean and organised work areas and complying with workplace health and safety requirements.
About You
- At least 1 year of relevant experience as a Carpenter, Formwork Carpenter or in a similar construction carpentry role.
- Relevant carpentry qualifications or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated experience in timber formwork construction and installation.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, plans and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in measuring, cutting, assembling and installing timber structures and formwork components.
- Competence in using hand tools, power tools and carpentry equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a construction team.
- Good organisational, communication and problem-solving skills.
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures in construction environments.
