Quality Engineer
12 month Contract Opportunity | Brisbane CBD | Hybrid Working
We are seeking an experienced Hands-on Quality Engineer to play a key role in a major HR transformation program for a large Queensland organisation. Hands-on Quality Engineer responsible for designing, implementing, and scaling an API-first test automation ecosystem across a multi-SaaS landscape. This role leads the re-platforming and modernisation of automation frameworks, enabling reusable, secure, and high-performing quality engineering practices embedded into CI/CD.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement scalable, API-first automation frameworks spanning contract testing, integration testing, and End-to-End (E2E) validation.
- Design and implement scalable, maintainable UI tests across multiple platforms.
- Establish test orchestration and CI/CD quality gates using GitHub pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
- Drive test data management strategies, including data provisioning, masking/obfuscation (e.g., DataMasque), and secure, compliant data lifecycle controls.
- Implement API performance and compatibility testing aligned with scalability, resilience, and release risk.
- Participate in re-platforming initiatives for the existing tool stack/frameworks (Playwright, Karate, K6) and design/enable AI-driven test automation capabilities to improve coverage, resilience, and defect detection.
- Collaborate closely with multiple project and platform teams to embed quality engineering seamlessly into delivery workflows.
What We're Looking For
- Extensive experience as a Senior Quality Engineer, SDET or Test Automation Engineer in complex integration or SaaS environments.
- Strong expertise in API-first testing, including contract, integration and end-to-end automation.
- Proven experience building and scaling automation frameworks, not simply executing automated tests.
- Hands-on experience with Playwright, Karate, CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions and modern DevOps practices.
- Exposure to API performance testing (K6), test data management and data masking solutions highly regarded.
- Ability to influence delivery teams, establish automation standards and operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Experience with AI-assisted test automation and large-scale platform transformation programs is highly desirable.
