This is an excellent opportunity for a Treasury Management Accountant with SIMS experience to influence decisionmaking and drive financial performance across key portfolios.
Your new role
As the Budget Business Partner, you will work closely with senior leaders and operational teams to provide high-quality financial support and insights. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing budget development, submissions, adjustments and reviews within the SIMS government budgeting system
- Supporting stakeholders with operational and capital budgeting, forecasting and financial planning
- Providing financial analysis, commentary and advice to support strategic decisionmaking
- Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for internal and external stakeholders
- Conducting variance analysis and identifying financial risks, opportunities and trends
- Ensuring accurate budget uploads, cost centre maintenance and financial modelling
- Supporting the MidYear Review, Budget Statements and annual planning processes
- Guiding stakeholders on government financial frameworks, costing standards and compliance requirements
- Contributing to continuous improvement across budgeting processes and financial systems
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience working with SIMS or similar government financial planning systems
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders
- Sound understanding of government budgeting frameworks, reporting cycles and financial policies
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and scenario modelling
- Ability to work effectively across multiple portfolios and manage competing deadlines
- Strong Excel capability and confidence using financial management systems
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, Economics or similar
- CPA/CA membership or progress toward professional accreditation
