SkillQuest Solutions is seeking an experienced Solicitor on behalf of our client, a well-established legal practice servicing individuals, families and businesses throughout regional Victoria.

With a strong reputation for providing practical, professional and client-focused legal services, the practice advises across a broad range of areas including property and conveyancing, wills and estates, family law, commercial matters, civil disputes, criminal law and employment matters.

Position – Solicitor

Location – Mansfield, Victoria 3722

Salary - $80,000 - $90,000 plus superannuation per annum

Employment Type - Full-time, Permanent

THE ROLE:

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Solicitor to manage a varied caseload and provide practical legal advice and representation to clients across a range of matters.

Working as part of an experienced legal team, you will meet with clients, assess their legal needs, undertake legal research, prepare and review legal documentation, negotiate on behalf of clients and assist with the preparation and conduct of legal proceedings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

· Conduct client interviews and initial consultations to identify the nature of legal issues, assess client requirements, and gather relevant facts and information.

· Assist with client intake procedures, review supporting documentation, and contribute to determining appropriate legal actions and strategies for client matters.

· Assist with the preparation of court and legal proceedings by conducting legal research, reviewing evidence, analyzing legal issues, and preparing briefs, summaries, and relevant matter documentation.

· Attend and support client representation in court proceedings, tribunals, settlements, mediations, and other dispute resolution processes, assisting with the progression of legal matters as required and appropriate to the level of experience

· Undertake conveyancing and property-related work by preparing contracts, agreements, correspondence, and other legal documents relating to the transfer, leasing, and management of land and buildings.

· Prepare, draft, and critically review contracts, agreements, correspondence, file notes, and other legal documents for transactional matters, including identifying factual, procedural, and legal issues requiring further review or escalation.

· Prepare wills and provide legal assistance and advice in relation to trusts, estate planning, and related matters where applicable.

· Provide legal advice and assistance in relation to company law, partnerships, commercial law, and trusts by conducting legal research and preparing written summaries of relevant legislation, case law, and legal principles

· Maintain accurate and up-to-date file notes, records, and matter plans.

· Ensure compliance with professional obligations, confidentiality requirements, ethical standards, and firm policies relating to client duties, file management, privacy, and legal practice procedures

· Perform legal work under appropriate supervision and guidance, consistent with the level of experience, competency, and practicing certificate conditions applicable to the role.

· Manage billing, practice management, and administrative responsibilities within legal practice, including accurately recording time in accordance with billing procedures, assisting with invoice preparation, cost disclosures, legal administration, and participating in professional development activities

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

· Relevant qualification, such as a recognized Bachelor of Laws (LLB), Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent Australian-recognised legal qualification.

· Admission to the legal profession in Australia.

· A current practicing certificate permitting legal practice in Victoria.

· At least one year of relevant professional experience working as a Solicitor or in a comparable legal practice role.

· Demonstrated experience providing legal advice, undertaking legal research and preparing legal documents.

· Experience managing client matters and maintaining accurate legal files and documentation.

· Sound knowledge of relevant Australian and Victorian legislation, legal procedures and professional obligations.

· Strong legal research, analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal matters clearly to clients.

· Strong organisation, time management and attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing matters and deadlines.

· A professional, ethical and client-focused approach to legal practice.

· You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
