Night Shift Production Supervisor – Summit Homes
Location: Perth, WA
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Shift: Monday to Friday, 10:00pm – 6:00am
Salary: $100,000 – $125,000 + Superannuation
The Opportunity
Summit Homes is seeking an experienced Night Shift Production Supervisor to take responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of its night shift manufacturing team.
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for managing a workforce of up to 40 production operators, supported by approximately 3-4 Team Leaders.
The successful candidate will effectively be responsible for running the factory during significant periods of the night shift, so we are looking for someone who is confident making decisions, managing changing production priorities and keeping the team focused on achieving daily production targets.
Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and lead a night shift workforce of up to 40 production operators and 3-4 Team Leaders.
  • Take ownership of day-to-day night shift production and ensure production targets are achieved.
  • Plan labour and production requirements according to workload and priorities.
  • Monitor output and proactively address issues affecting production.
  • Reallocate labour and adjust production plans when machinery breaks down or priorities change.
  • Work effectively with limited access to maintenance and engineering support during night shift.
  • Read and understand production drawings, diagrams and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct regular toolbox talks, team meetings and safety discussions.
  • Maintain accurate employee training and competency records.
  • Drive productivity, quality and continuous improvement across the shift.
  • Promote and maintain 5S, Lean Manufacturing and workplace safety standards.
  • Coach, develop and motivate Team Leaders and production employees.
  • Identify training and development requirements across the workforce.
  • Manage performance and ensure employees understand expectations and production targets.
  • Provide clear and accurate handovers to the day and afternoon/night management teams.
  • Work collaboratively within the broader production management structure.

About You
We are looking for an experienced production leader who has worked within a manufacturing, fabrication or assembly environment.
Relevant industry experience could include:

  • Steel framing
  • Window and door manufacturing
  • Metal fabrication and assembly
  • Outdoor blinds/shutters
  • Building products
  • Engineering/manufacturing
  • Similar high-volume production environments

You don’t necessarily need to be a qualified tradesperson, but you must be mechanically aware and comfortable understanding machinery, drawings, diagrams and manufacturing processes.
Key Skills & Experience
To be successful, you will ideally have:

  • Previous experience as a Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, Shift Supervisor or Production Manager.
  • Demonstrated experience managing sizeable production teams.
  • Strong production planning and labour allocation experience.
  • Experience managing Team Leaders or leading through a supervisory structure.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and an understanding of manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and diagrams.
  • Experience working around machine breakdowns and changing production requirements.
  • 5S and Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Good knowledge of workplace health and safety.
  • Experience conducting toolbox talks and team meetings.
  • Strong computer and administrative skills.
  • Experience maintaining training, competency and staffing records.
  • Excellent communication and people-management skills.
  • A flexible, solutions-focused approach to problems.
  • Ability to make decisions independently and remain calm when priorities change.
  • A genuine drive to develop people, improve performance and build a strong team culture.

What Will Make You Successful
This role will suit someone who enjoys being on the factory floor and leading from the front.
Night shift presents different challenges to day shift, particularly when machinery breaks down or unexpected production issues arise and maintenance resources are limited. You will need to be comfortable thinking on your feet, reorganising labour and changing the production plan in the moment to keep the factory moving.
You will have considerable autonomy during your shift, while still working within the wider management structure and ensuring effective handovers between shifts.
Package
$100,000 – $125,000 + superannuation, depending on experience.
