Your new company
This is an opportunity for an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join a large Queensland Government organisation. Working within a collaborative Financial Services team, you will play a key role in supporting the organisation's accounts payable function whilst contributing to accurate financial reporting and compliance with internal policies and procedures.
Your new role
As the Accounts Payable Officer, you will be responsible for supporting day-to-day accounts payable activities and ensuring the timely and accurate processing of financial transactions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing invoices and ensuring compliance with GST, withholding tax and financial management requirements
- Managing creditor payments and responding to supplier enquiries in a timely and professional manner
- Preparing monthly accruals, prepayments and recurring financial transactions
- Completing account reconciliations and investigating discrepancies to ensure data accuracy
- Reviewing corporate card expenditure and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures
- Processing cheque requests, travel claims and other finance-related transactions
- Investigating supplier overpayments and assisting with recovery processes where required
- Preparing reports and supporting management with financial information as required
- Assisting internal stakeholders with invoice processing and resolving payment-related issues
What you'll need to succeed
- Demonstrated experience in an Accounts Payable, Finance Officer, or similar finance support role
- Strong understanding of accounts payable processes, invoice management, and financial administration
- Experience performing reconciliations, accruals and maintaining accurate financial records
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using financial management systems
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
