The opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with a structured and proactive approach to support the delivery of the City’s in-house annual civil construction program.

As the Technical Officer – Construction, you will be responsible for providing technical and operational support to the Construction Management team throughout the lifecycle of projects spanning pre planning, implementation and close out, ensuring best practice with safety, financial, risk, Stakeholder, contract, procurement, administrative, and program management, including managing coordination of approvals, scheduling, supervision, Inspections and auditing within the City’s civil construction road resurfacing program.

Assessing and issuing permits to work, preparing cost estimates, and of issuing of work package documentation to external contractors, suppliers and resources are prevalent to the role.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Diploma of Civil Engineering / Construction or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of civil construction experience.
  • Experience in contract/contractor management and administration and project management.
  • Effective coordination, organisational, time management, interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to supervise, organise and control resources applicable to civil construction.
  • Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office systems and packages and knowledge of Technology One software (desirable).
