About the Role

Are you an organised and customer-focused professional with an eye for detail and an interest in student administration, finance and compliance?

Curtin University is seeking a Student Fees and Visa Compliance Officer to join our Student Services team. This role provides specialised support across student fees, financial assistance and international student visa compliance, helping ensure students receive accurate, timely and high-quality service while Curtin meets its legislative and regulatory obligations.

This is a varied role suited to someone who enjoys working with detailed information, solving problems and supporting students and stakeholders across a range of financial and compliance-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate financial administration processes across the student fees lifecycle in accordance with University policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Provide accurate and timely advice to students regarding fees, payments, refunds, payment plans, visa matters and Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) requirements.
  • Support compliance with relevant legislative requirements, including the Higher Education Support Act (HESA) and Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) framework.
  • Assess refunds and remission applications, process sponsor invoices and undertake reconciliation and debt management activities.
  • Assess and issue CoEs following changes to international students' enrolments in accordance with relevant visa framework requirements.
  • Review student appeals, complaints and grievances, investigate relevant information and provide recommendations or escalate matters where appropriate.
  • Provide administrative and data support to the team and contribute to information resources, publications and University events.

Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding customer service, with a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Experience working within a computerised financial or administrative environment, including strong numeracy, data entry, validation and Excel skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience working within established policies and procedures, including monitoring or compliance activities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to exercise appropriate judgement and discretion.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Previous experience within a university or student services environment, knowledge of Student One, and an understanding of HESA, ESOS and the National Code would be highly regarded.

Role Requirements

  1. As this is a fixed-term contract, you will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role
  2. Successful applicants will be subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction.

This role attracts a salary package of $85,781 - $93,386 (G05) per annum plus 17% superannuation.
