Civil Engineer – Bexley (Sydney)
Kogan People Solutions is working with a well-established civil and asphalt contractor based in Bexley, NSW. The business delivers roadworks, pavement rehabilitation, asphalt resurfacing and drainage projects for councils, authorities and private clients across metropolitan Sydney and regional New South Wales. With a strong pipeline of work, the business is now seeking a qualified Civil Engineer to join the team on a full-time, ongoing basis.
Location: Bexley, with work on project sites across metropolitan Sydney and regional NSW.
Salary: Negotiable in the range $80,000 to $90,000 plus superannuation per annum
Responsibilities of their new Civil Engineer will include:
- Reviewing, interpreting and verifying civil, pavement and drainage design drawings and specifications, and raising requests for information with designers and consultants.
- Investigating site conditions, including existing pavements, subgrade, drainage and underground services, and recommending engineering solutions.
- Developing construction methodologies, work sequencing and set-out for roadworks, pavement rehabilitation, asphalt resurfacing, kerb and channel, and drainage works.
- Specifying and verifying pavement materials, asphalt mixes, aggregates and bitumen products to TfNSW specifications, Austroads guides and Australian Standards.
- Preparing engineering cost estimates, quantity take-offs and construction programs.
- Preparing and managing Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and hold and witness points, and interpreting compaction, density, level and materials test results.
- Directing site crews, plant operators and subcontractors to deliver works to the engineering design and specification.
- Preparing traffic management plans, road occupancy licence applications, method statements, variations and work-as-executed records.
- Identifying defects and non-conformances, determining their cause, and specifying rectification works.
- Liaising with clients, councils, TfNSW, utility authorities and consultants to resolve technical issues and obtain approvals.
About you:
- You have sound technical knowledge of civil engineering principles, pavement design and construction, asphalt technology and road drainage.
- You can read, interpret and verify engineering drawings, specifications and survey data.
- You are competent with engineering design and drafting software and construction programming tools.
- You have a strong safety focus and a good working knowledge of WHS, traffic management, environmental and quality requirements.
- You communicate well with clients, councils, authorities, subcontractors and site personnel.
- You are an analytical problem-solver who can resolve technical, safety, quality and construction issues on site.
To be successfully considered for the role you:
- Have a bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent qualification recognised by Engineers Australia.
- Have at least 1 year of relevant post-qualification experience as a civil engineer on roadworks, pavement or civil infrastructure projects.
- Have a working knowledge of TfNSW specifications, Austroads guides and relevant Australian Standards.
- Are able to travel to project sites across metropolitan Sydney and regional NSW.
