Hays is partnering with a busy and high-performing public sector organisation seeking two Development Assessment Planners to provide immediate support through a period of increased application volumes.These roles will focus on the pre-lodgement and lodgement review stage of the development assessment process, ensuring applications are complete, compliant and ready to progress efficiently through the assessment pathway.
Your new role
As a Development Assessment Planner, you will play a key role in the early stages of the DA process by:
- Reviewing development applications at lodgement stage
- Undertaking preliminary planning assessments and compliance checks
- Identifying missing information and application deficiencies
- Providing advice to applicants, consultants and internal stakeholders on lodgement requirements
- Interpreting relevant planning legislation, LEPs, DCPs and council policies
- Supporting the efficient progression of applications through the DA assessment process
- Preparing correspondence and recommendations relating to application completeness and planning requirements
What you'll need to succeed
- Qualifications in Town Planning, Urban Planning or a related discipline
- Previous experience in development assessment, statutory planning or development services
- Strong understanding of NSW planning legislation and DA processes
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to review applications against planning controls
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage a high-volume caseload in a fast-paced environment
