The Role
Reporting to the Team Leader, you will be responsible for assessing and decisioning residential mortgage applications. You will work closely with brokers, mortgage managers, underwriters and internal stakeholders to ensure applications are processed efficiently while maintaining strong credit quality and exceptional customer service standards. This opportunity would suit an experienced mortgage credit professional who enjoys working on a variety of lending scenarios within a supportive and growing organisation.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Assess and decision residential mortgage applications in line with lending authority, company policy and service level agreements.
- Analyse a range of lending scenarios, including self-employed applicants and more complex credit submissions.
- Liaise with brokers, mortgage managers, applicants and third-party providers throughout the application process, ensuring excellent customer service and communication.
- Provide recommendations on applications that sit outside standard credit policy and communicate lending decisions clearly to all stakeholders.
- Support the wider credit function in achieving turnaround times, service standards and continuous process improvements.
About You
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in mortgage credit assessment within either a bank or non-bank lender and hold a Delegated Lending Authority (DLA). You will possess strong credit judgement, commercial acumen and a sound understanding of Australian residential lending principles, including Lenders Mortgage Insurance (LMI). Experience assessing self-employed borrowers is essential, while exposure to SMSF lending, construction lending and complex trust structures will be highly regarded. You will be a strong communicator with excellent stakeholder management skills, a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
