Are you a qualified Counsellor looking to make a meaningful difference for people experiencing mental health and/or alcohol and other drug challenges?
We’re currently recruiting for Counsellor and AOD Counsellors to join a welcoming well establied not-for-profit community-based mental health service in Cairns. This is an opportunity to provide accessible, trauma-informed support to individuals and families while working alongside a multidisciplinary team and broader community services.
Permanent - Part-Time | 3 days per week | $88,090 + super + salary packaging

About the Role
You’ll provide brief intervention, counselling, care coordination and referrals to people experiencing mental health concerns, AOD challenges, distress or crisis.
The service provides a low-stigma, accessible alternative to emergency departments, offering immediate, short and medium-term support before connecting people with ongoing services.
About You
We’re looking for a compassionate and experienced Counsellor who can work confidently with people experiencing mental health concerns, AOD issues and complex psychosocial needs.
You will ideally have:
- A minimum Bachelor's qualification in Counselling and Psychotherapy
- Current ACA Level 3+ or PACFA registration
- Experience working with mental health and/or AOD
- Experience supporting people with complex needs
This is a permanent part-time position, 3 days per week, with the service operating across a 7-day roster, including evenings and weekends.
