Matyray Pty Ltd, trading as Littorio's Cafe, a busy and well-regarded cafe located at 168 Main Street, Croydon, is seeking a skilled and experienced Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. Working closely with the Chef and business owner, the successful candidate will prepare, season, and cook a range of cafe menu items to a consistently high standard, support daily kitchen operations, and uphold food safety and hygiene standards.
This role suits a reliable, hands-on Cook who works well under pressure in a fast-paced cafe kitchen and takes pride in fresh, quality food.
Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation and Cooking
•Prepare, season and cook a variety of breakfast, brunch and lunch menu items to established recipes and presentation standards.
•Ensure meals are prepared consistently, efficiently and to customer expectations during busy service periods.
•Assist the Chef with menu item preparation, specials and recipe development.
Kitchen Operations
•Support day-to-day kitchen operations, including stock rotation, receiving and storage of supplies, and preparation schedules.
•Monitor portion sizes and minimise wastage to help control kitchen costs.
•Ensure kitchen equipment is used properly and kept in good working order.
Quality, Safety and Hygiene
•Maintain high standards of food quality, portion control and presentation.
•Maintain a clean and organised kitchen workspace at all times.
•Comply with food safety standards, hygiene practices and workplace health and safety regulations, including allergen management.
Teamwork
•Work cooperatively with the Chef, kitchen hands and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient service.
•Guide and support kitchen hands and junior staff as directed.
Skills and Qualifications
•Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent qualification.
•At least 1 year of relevant work experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen environment.
•Sound knowledge of food preparation techniques, portion control and kitchen procedures.
•Strong understanding of food safety standards and kitchen hygiene practices.
•Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced cafe environment.
•Strong teamwork, organisational and communication skills.
Work Schedule
The position requires flexibility to work on a rotating roster, including early mornings, weekends, and public holidays, depending on operational requirements.
Remuneration
Annual salary between $ 75,000 and $85,000 plus superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience.
