The Position 

We're seeking Consultant Psychiatrists to join dedicated teams in Community Mental Health, Child, Adolescent and Youth Mental Health, and Adult Inpatient Mental Health. 

In these pivotal roles, you'll provide high-quality psychiatric assessment, treatment, and care planning, championing person-centred, recovery-oriented, family/carer-inclusive, and trauma-informed principles. We're looking for effective communicators, collaborators, leaders, health advocates, scholars, and professionals who are passionate about proactive mental health service development, fostering a culture of learning and best practice, and contributing to quality improvement and research. 

You'll participate in a pro-rata consultant on-call roster, providing after-hours coverage across mental health inpatient units, general hospitals (including emergency departments), and community mental health teams. Key responsibility will also include teaching and supervision of other staff, including Trainees in Psychiatry.

It includes robust community and inpatient care for children, adolescents, and youth, featuring dedicated programs for early intervention in psychosis and urgent psychiatric emergency care. Adult services encompass both acute and sub-acute inpatient units, alongside extensive community-based mental health support focused on recovery and wellbeing. Additionally, programs addressing the needs of children with parents experiencing mental illness ensure holistic care within a coordinated multidisciplinary framework.

Essential Criteria 

Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia via the Specialist Pathway (Substantially Comparable) or Expedited Specialist Pathway.
