About the Role
Seeking an experienced Community Laws Officer to join a Safer Communities team on a contract basis. In this role, you'll help ensure our community's compliance with State legislation and Local Laws, contributing directly to community safety outcomes across the municipality.

As an Authorised Officer, you'll play a hands-on role in investigations, proactive patrols, and enforcement, while delivering excellent customer service to residents and stakeholders. Animal handling and investigation experience will be highly regarded

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate enquiries and complaints, promoting compliance and enforcing relevant legislation and regulations where necessary
  • Conduct general public safety patrols across the municipality and action statutory breaches in a timely manner
  • Respond to enquiries, complaints, appeals, and correspondence from internal and external stakeholders within Council standards
  • Maintain accurate records relating to Infringement Notices, Notices to Comply, and daily activity logs for reports, statements, and court processes
  • Undertake collection of lost/stray animals within Council timelines
  • Provide supervision at school crossings to ensure the safety of children and the public
  • Prepare documentation and briefs of evidence for prosecution where required

About You

  • Proven experience in a regulatory, enforcement, or similar role
  • Experience dealing with conflict and stressful situations, with the ability to diffuse difficult situations tactfully
  • Minimum Certificate IV in Animal Control and Regulation , or applicable industry experience or relevant qualification
  • Demonstrated experience applying Local Laws, Victorian State legislation, and enforcement processes
  • High-level written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise a varied workload independently
  • Experience using computer software including Pathway, ReM, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Current Victorian Driver's Licence
