My People Solutions Recruitment is seeking experienced Casual Disability Support Workers to join a dedicated team supporting a young adult with cerebral palsy, intellectual disability and epilepsy. The client is non-verbal, receives nutrition through a PEG and requires high-intensity, person-centred support.
The successful candidates will be confident using electric hoists, following complex manual-handling procedures and providing personal care supports. Role-specific training will be provided. Cultural sensitivity and the ability to respectfully support the client and their family’s Asian cultural background are important.
About the Client
The client enjoys history, watching television and spending time with cats. Shifts are available in the early mornings, late afternoons and on weekends. Additional shifts are often available during school holidays.
Additional in-home and community-based work may also be available with the company's other clients. For this reason, applicants must hold a current driver licence and have access to a reliable, comprehensively insured vehicle suitable for client transport.

You will be a collaborative and dependable team member who communicates clearly, uses sound judgement and approaches support work with integrity, patience and a positive sense of humour. You must be committed to delivering safe, respectful and high-quality support in line with the client’s preferences and support plan.
Ongoing online learning and skills development form part of the role, and you will be expected to maintain evidence of current knowledge, competencies and mandatory credentials. Please note that personal care and assistance are standard responsibilities in all Disability Support Worker roles.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
A minimum of two years’ experience supporting people with high-intensity support needs, including people who are non-verbal.
Relevant disability support qualifications
Demonstrated experience using electric hoists, completing complex manual-handling tasks and delivering respectful personal care support.
A current NDIS Worker Screening Check, National Police Check and Working with Children Check
Current First Aid and CPR certificates
Current vaccination evidence, including COVID-19 vaccination where required
Valid Australian work rights and 100 points of identification
A current driver licence, reliable vehicle and comprehensive motor vehicle insurance
Highly Regarded
Certificate III in Individual Support, Certificate IV in Disability or Mental Health, or an equivalent or higher qualification
Current medication administration and manual-handling certificates
Asian cultural understanding or relevant lived experience
Flexibility across days and shift times
Availability to support the company's other client's when required
NOTE: All Support Worker roles include some personal care and assistance as a standard part of the disability support worker's role.
