Role Overview
This full-time position is responsible for managing the preparation and production of meat and smallgoods, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, and delivering excellent customer service. The successful candidate will be confident in meat cutting, smallgoods production, and supervising staff in a dynamic environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cut, and portion fresh meat to business and customer requirements.
- Produce smallgoods including sausages, smoked meats, and specialty products.
- Maintain hygiene and workplace health & safety compliance at all times.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with purchasing, and ensure product availability.
- Provide excellent customer service and resolve enquiries professionally.
- Recruit, train, supervise, and roster staff to maintain productivity and service standards.
- Oversee merchandising, promotional displays, and store presentation to maximize sales opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, Australian food safety regulations, and HACCP standards.
- Liaise with suppliers and negotiate purchasing arrangements to maintain competitive pricing and supply continuity.
- Monitor operational costs and manage budgets in line with business objectives.
Skills & Experience
- Proven 3-5 years’ experience of as a butcher or smallgoods maker.
- Strong knowledge of meat handling, cutting, and processing techniques.
- Familiarity with food safety standards and HACCP compliance.
- Experience managing point-of-sale systems and inventory management.
- Strong communication, customer engagement, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of operational outcomes.
